The Canadian immigration process is quite streamlined and easy to follow. I downloaded the application forms from the internet. The documents required were listed clearly. Most of the documents were easy to get like transcripts from the universities, bank statements certified by bank, age proof, etc. The difficult one was police certificate. I had to get police clearance certificate from every place I lived in past 10 years. It is very difficult since I lived in couple of countries outside of India. Obtaining Police clearance certificates from Japan and Australia was not too difficult since they have established procedures. But India did not have any established procedure. We had to take help from a relative who knew a high official in India who could give us a police clearance certificate. However, after submission of the application, the process was quite smooth. We were careful in adding all the required information as instructed. Hence the applications were clear to the immigration authority. Medical examination was the only bit difficult issue out of the entire process. Since we were in Japan, language was a bit difficult but that too went smoothly. We soon got the immigration papers. Moving to a new country is always like an adventure. After receiving landing documents, we started having second thoughts. We waited for 6 full months before finally we gathered our courage to move to a new country. It is always full of uncertainty. In most immigration cases one person arrives first then brings the rest their family but we were lucky enough to arrive as a family, get through this as a family, and experience this as a family.
