General Information
My name is Anup and I am 49 years old. We immigrated
to Canada 12 years ago and I think that moving to Canada was our best decision.
I have a master’s degree and I specialize in chemical engineering. I lived in India for
33 years and in Japan for 4 years. We wanted to move to a country where we can
provide a well balanced education to our son.
When in Japan, the education was in a language we were not able to fully
understand and we thought that it would benefit our son to live in a society
where they spoke a language that is common in many places around the globe like
English. Another reason for coming to Canada is I wanted to continue my career
in the engineering field. But if I were to have lived there now, I would have
probably had a job related to financial sales because of the payments and the
quality of life. When I learned about the oil sands in Alberta, I saw this as an
eye opening opportunity to treat my family to a proper living standard. We had
decided not to move to the U.S. due to the aggressive foreign policies,
political issues, and it revolved too much around democratics. At the time Canada
was known for its peaceful country and was seen as the best
option.
